In a dramatic turn of events within the boxing world this afternoon, it has been announced that heavyweight contender and undefeated pugilist Tyson Fury has now signed with long time UK promoter Frank Warren and will appear on his first show under the new deal on Feb 15th at the Copper Box Arena, along with his cousin and fellow heavyweight hopeful Hughie Fury.
It appears that the deal will be in conjunction with Hennessy Sports so contrary to some Twitter users he has not actually left Hennessy.
Sourced from @frankwarren_tv which said the following tweets:
“Delighted to announce that Tyson Fury will feature on 15th Feb event at the Copper Box Arena in London.”
“Delighted to also announce that he has signed a promotional deal with FW.”
“We look forward to working with Tyson, Peter Fury, Mick Hennessey, Hughie Fury and the rest of the team.”
However not long after the news broke on Twitter, Hennessy Sports released a press release via @HennessySports tweeting “Press Release: Hennessy Sports set the record straight on @Tyson_Fury speculation @peterfury @hughiefury #boxing https://icont.ac/2ae0D“ which contained the following:
“These reports are not true, we have had a verbal offer from Box Nation for Tyson to appear on three of their shows, but as yet have not received any contract to look at and consider,” Mick Hennessy said.
“Until something is agreed in writing and signed into, myself, Peter Fury and Tyson are still keeping our options open.
“We were told it would be 48 hours before we even receive any paperwork to look at and we are still awaiting any such communication.”
The next couple of days should be very interesting indeed!
