Lebedev vs Kalenga: Fisticuffs in Russia for WBA Cruiserweight Title
An intriguing world title battle takes place in Moscow tomorrow, between two men as rugged and tough as they come

Tomorrow at around 6pm local time in Moscow, Russia, the WBA cruiserweight title will be contested when native champion Dennis Lebedev puts his belt on the line against Frenchman Youri Kalenga.
Lebedev comes into the contest in great form off the back of his last fight to win the WBA strap, which came via a highly impressive 2nd round KO against previously unbeaten 33-0 Pawel Kolodziej from Poland.
Many will remember the champion Lebedev for battering an old James Toney a couple of years back and also in a savage contest in 2013 that saw him get stopped by Panamanian Guillermo Jones and left with a badly, grotesquely damaged eye injury.
After over a year out of the ring, he bounced back well against Kolodziej last September and definitely shows he’s got heart by the bucket loads. He’ll need it tomorrow against a hungry challenger in Youri Kalenga.
Youri was originally from the Congo but later moved the Nord, France. He’s got some form coming into this one himself, with 5 wins in the spin and 4 of which coming inside the distance.
He’s managed by Irish man Gary Hyde who is very confident in his charge doing the business and if the intensity in the face off today is anything to go by, fight fans in Russia could be in for a treat.
Size wise, there’s not a whole lot in this one. Both men can really dig, perhaps with the slight edge going to Lebedev. Kalenga has never been stopped however and his teak toughness and aggression could make for a very even duel.
I can’t see this match being a chess match or a battle of jabs and footwork in all truth.
With Kalenga boxing in Lebedev’s back yard he’ll probably look to put the heat on him like no one has before, which will more than likely create all out war in a fight that as long as it lasts, should give some serious value for money to fight fans.
