Canadian Boxing Update: August 11th Toronto Card
Four Fight Undercard Featuring Undefeated Champ Brandon Brewer and Rising Star Shakeel Phinn

On August 11, Lee Baxter Management will present five exciting match-ups at the Woodbine Convention Hall in Toronto, including some of Canada’s brightest stars.
In the main event of the evening, Ontario’s own two division Canadian champ Sam Vargas (21-2-1, 11KOs) will take on former WBC Mundo Hispano and FECARBOX champion Ulises Jimenez (21-16-1, 15KOs) of Mexico in a super welterweight ten rounder.
Vargas last saw action a little over a month ago in Edmonton, blasting out seasoned Mexican veteran Cesar Chavez (26-9-0, 14KOs) via TKO3. He is currently ranked #2 in the nation by Canadian Boxiana.
This is Jimenez’s first fight since 2013, when he moved up to middleweight to fight Adrian Luna Flores for the Mexican championship. Although Jimenez was the more experienced fighter, the naturally bigger Flores was able to use his size advantage to secure a TKO2 victory.
In the co-main event of the evening, undefeated Canadian Professional Boxing Council light middleweight champ Brandon Brewer (15-0-1, 7KOs) of New Brunswick takes on Patryk Litkiewicz (17-8-0, 11KOs) of Poland in an eight round tilt. Brewer has been looking exceptionally strong of late, earning wins over international foes Gyula Vajda and Saloman Rodriguez.
Against Rodriguez, Brewer looked quicker and more athletic than ever, putting together devastating combinations like never before.
Litkiewicz is coming off a win over Slawomir Latopolski in early July and has stopped three of his last five opponents. In June, he showed some real grit and determination in a losing effort, staying the eight round distance with undefeated Belfast prospect Dee Walsh.
In an exciting four round light heavyweight tilt, Quebec’s Shakeel Phinn (2-1-0, 1KOs) is coming to town to take on Mississauga’s Colato Boakye (0-2-0).
Phinn is fresh off his successful American debut on July 9, where he took a wide unanimous decision over fellow prospect Danny Walters of Maryland. In other action, Toronto favorite Junmar Emon (6-2-0, 2KOs) meets Nova Scotia’s Shane Upshaw (1-1-4, 1KOs) in a super welterweight six rounder and Ahmad Shukoori (0-1-0) of Toronto faces Kyle Marsh (0-1-0) of Peterborough in a four round, all-Ontario lightweight clash.
