Headlining on BoxNation TV
Unbeaten middleweight prospect Tommy Langford (13-0) will top the bill on October 3rd at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall to defend his newly-attained WBO Inter-Continental middleweight title live on Box Nation.
The unbeaten Birmingham based ace headlines the show promoted by Frank Warren and P.J Rowson, live and exclusive on BoxNation (Sky 437/HD 490, Virgin 546 and Talk Talk 525).
Pleased to be featuring in the main event for the first time in his three year professional career, the Birmingham-based boxer enthused, “I’m really pleased to be topping the bill. It shows that everything is going in the right direction so it shows that the promoters and fans are happy with me and I’m really grateful to Frank Warren and the team at Queensberry Promotions.”
The fourteenth fight of the 26-year-old’s career will be his fourth at the Wolves Civic and first time headlining a show.
A year to remember so far
2015 has been an exciting year for the Bideford-born former England amateur captain following two impressive performances when providing chief support to the main event live on Box Nation.
On moving up from support act to main event, Tommy claims not to be daunted by the promotion, “Strangely enough, I’m thriving under the spotlight,” he assured. “It doesn’t feel like pressure anymore, I just look forward to showing what I can do, it just makes me feel more at home.
“As long as I go out there and do my thing. It’ll be hard work as usual so come fight night I’ll express myself in the ring and I’ve still got to beat who’s in front of me, regardless of the occasion.”
On the opponent yet to be confirmed, Langford stated, “Not sure who I’ll have yet but it’ll be a highly-ranked opponent and beating him will put me up there higher in the rankings.”
No.7 in WBO already
The Frank Warren fighter is currently ranked at number seven by the WBO after winning the Inter-Continental strap at middleweight. To date, the talented prospect has still not conceded a single round of the 62 boxed since his pro debut in September 2012.
The 160-pounder blasted his way through the last two opponents this year in style, first dismantling a game Wayne Reed (11-9) in five rounds on Valentine’s Day at the Wolves Civic and then stopping a tough Mexican in Julio Cesar Avalos (15-4) on American Independence Day at The National Stadium in Dublin.
“There’s a lot more to come from me,” Langford claimed. “I’m happy with the last two performances and all the things I’ve been working on in the gym, I’ve managed to show in the ring such as my strength.
“I’m a lot stronger now and there’s a lot more to come from me. The better the fighter in front of me, the more it will bring from me,” said the 6ft tall middleweight.
Langford was roared on to victory by a boisterous group of travelling fans in his last fight that delivered great vocals for their sporting hero during the night within the 2,000 capacity arena in Ireland’s capital city.
“It’s gonna’ be wicked,” beamed Langford. “My fans make such a lot of noise anywhere so when’s there’s 500+ in the venue for the next fight, it’ll be mental!”.
Quality undercard to boot
Chief-support on the show is an Eliminator for the English Super-Welterweight Championship between Dudley’s Ryan Aston and Aylesbury’s Nathan Graham.
A top class undercard will feature a host of top up-and-coming talents, including unbeaten Guisborough light-welterweight Josh Leather; Birmingham super-bantamweight Raza Hamza; Leicester super-featherweight Lyon Woodstock; Belfast super-welterweight Macaulay McGowan; Rowley Regis middleweight Tyler Denny; Dudley lightweight Les Byfield and the professional debut of Dudley flyweight Josh Miller.
