Deontay Wilder Trainer Says Duhaupas Height Good Preparation For Klitschko

We caught up with renowned trainer to current WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, and also in his own right – Olympic Gold medalist and former two-time World Champion Mark Breland, ahead of Wilder’s latest title defense this Saturday in Alabama, USA.

Deontay Wilder faces Frenchman Johann Duhaupas (32-2, 20KO) this weekend in front of his hometown fans Stateside.

Many are already looking ahead to a potential unification fight down the road with long time heavyweight king Wladimir Klitschko (should he get past Tyson Fury next month).

Observations have been made to this weekend’s European style, rugged, tall and rangy Duhaupas, as having been selected as an opponent to give Wilder more experience with dealing with the European fight-style, as well as getting used to mixing it with taller fighters.

Duhaupas at 6’5 will be slightly smaller than Wilder, but still a tad bit bigger than the majority of the American’s recent vanquished foes, so there could very well be logic in this regards to his selection as an opponent.

Should Wilder get passed this Saturday’s test, a big fight could well be in the works. Here’s our chat this week with Deontay’s trainer ahead of Saturday night, the very well respected Mark Breland:
