David Lemieux Predicting Shootout With Golovkin

Only four more sleeps to go for frenzied boxing fans eagerly anticipating what could genuinely be one of the best fights of the year.

Ahead of this Saturday’s middleweight title unification between Gennady Golovkin and David Lemieux at Madison Square Garden in New York, the pair recently sat down for HBO’s highly acclaimed Face Off feature, where the two knockout artists sat face to face across the table, with their trainers on either side.

There was certainly some interesting takeaways, but more than anything, the almost transparent delight in both men’s faces at the fight’s imminent arrival was one of the clearest things that came across.

Two guys who genuinely love to throw down and mix it up. Mentions of how the fight might unfold into a Hagler-Hearns type street fight instantly brought smiles to both men’s faces.

You could almost sense that the two are gearing up for a feeding frenzy like two great white sharks, almost smelling the blood of what’s to come next.

Perhaps David Lemieux’s opinion that the contest will be an out and out “shootout” was most befitting of what awaits on Saturday. They know it, the fans know it, heck – everyone does.

A street fight could indeed be the order of the day this weekend.
