Second Coming Boxing Show: Full Preview With Fighter Quotes

The National Stadium will be packed to the rafters this coming Saturday as Frank Warren and MGM Promotions serve up another night of top class boxing in Ireland.

The show titled ‘Second Coming’ follows on from the hugely successful ‘New Beginnings’ show back in July.

Belfast’s Jamie Conlan headlines the bill, Conlan was in a thriller in his last fight and fans will be hoping for a repeat tomorrow night.

The packed card also features Jamie Cox, Vijender Singh, Michael Sweeney, Declan Geraghty, Peter McDonagh, Sean Turner and many more.

Jamie Conlan who weighed in at 8st 6p 8oz will be hoping to carry on his families success with another win on Saturday but believes it’ll be hard to top what Michael has achieved:

“Anything he does (Michael) I have to do better. It’s hard to top what he’s just done it’s harder to become amateur world champion than it is professional world champion. There’s hundreds of Pro world champions but only 1 amateur world champion. He’s just done something I can never done.”

Jamie will be hoping that another win tomorrow bring him closer to a fight with Paul Butler, but know’s that he can’t over look his opponent tomorrow night:

“All I have to do is keep training and keep winning and hopefully 2016 the fight can get made. It’s a fight I want, it’s a fight he want’s it’s going to be explosive. Even though tomorrow is only 8 rounder if I lose it’s like snakes and ladders I’ll be back where I started.”

The Welterweight Championship of Ireland is also on the line when Peter McDonagh squares off against Dean Byrne. The build up to this fight has been very heated with Peter McDonagh saying:

“I respect him as fighter but as a man I’ve no respect for him’. The pair faced off at the weigh in and we got a little taster of what’s to come on Saturday night with both men butting heads and some pushing and shoving thrown in just to wet the appetite.”
