Old Rivalry Ignited Once Again
Super-welterweight prospect, Lloyd Ellett (17-1) will face old rival, Faheem Khan (7-6-2) over six-rounds in the headlining fight on December 4th at the Camden Centre in London on a Hellraiser Promotions show.
The warring pair met once before back in October 2013 in Brighton which provided Ellett with his first experience of topping a bill in his coastal hometown, treating fans to a fourth round stoppage whilst collecting the first of his three Masters titles in the process.
The 28-year-old Sussex boxer known as the ‘Lightning Bolt’ said of his forthcoming foe:
“I know my opponent pretty well because I boxed him two years ago at the Metropole, I won by fourth round stoppage, he’s had a couple of wins since and apparently he’s quite up for the rematch.”
Khan, 33-years-old, will be seeking revenge in the main event to even the score and will be full of confidence after recently upsetting Paddy Fitzpatrick’s prospect, Garvey Kelly in his own back yard in Swindon in February this year.
Ellett is also confident ahead of the replay, he explained:
“I’ve always been good with southpaws, the last fight was not purely down to the fact that he was unorthodox. Mentally, I feel like I’m in a different place, I’m a lot happier where I am right now.”
The travelling opponent from Exeter will provide Ellett with his first fight back from defeat following his unexpected sole career loss to two-time Southern Area champion, Ryan Toms on October 2nd in front of his home support in Brighton.
Bouncing Back
Tasting his first defeat in 18 fights and four years as a pro, the ‘Lightning Bolt’ is looking to get back to winning ways on the first weekend of the festive period.
Ellett enthused:
“The support has been amazing, other boxers have told me after their first loss the support dies down and the phone doesn’t ring the next day but my phone didn’t stop for two weeks afterwards, I couldn’t believe it. I felt bad, rather than for myself I was feeling bad for other people to see how gutted they were that I got beat so hopefully I’ll put a smile back on their face.”
The 28-year-old super-welterweight from Brighton described exactly what fans can expect to see different in the performance on Friday:
“It’s going to be a lot better than last time, I’m happy with how things are now and I think it’s going to reflect in my performance. I’ve got a point to prove now so I’m desperate to get back in there. There’s been a lot of setbacks this year, even before that last fight but the loss is the best thing that could have happened and it’s reset my mind and whole game plan.”
Back On Hellraiser Promotions
The three-time Masters champion, managed by Scott Welch, has recently relocated to Brixton to be closer to his place of work – the iBox Gym in Bromley, where he trains alongside WBO European champion Bradley Skeete under the watchful eyes of top trainers Eddie Lamm and Alan Smith.
A former Haringey Box Cup winner, he enjoyed a busy campaign, winning all 16 of his fights in his first three years punching for pay, signed to London promoter Mickey Helliet.
After a brief spell under the Box Nation TV banner, Ellett is now back on the Hellraiser Promotions show, titled ‘The Festive Fight Night’, featuring 12 unbeaten prospects plus two exciting, young debutants.
