Birthday boxing bash

The 21-year-old’s third professional fight will double up as trainer Johnny Greaves’ 37th birthday. Hennon commented:

“My next fight is on Friday 4th March at Grays Civic and it’ll be Johnny’s [Greaves] birthday. He said it’ll be my birthday present to him if I get another win!”

A former English and European kick-boxing champion, Hennon has so far defeated both opponents on points, triumphing over veteran Matt Seawright (5-122-5) on his pro debut in June this year and Ali Wyatt (4-28-2) four months later in October.

His third outing in the paid ranks will be his first six three-minute round contest, he confirmed:

“Johnny’s gonna’ look for opponents for me to do a six-rounder with and I’m 100 per cent ready for it.”

Following his previous performance over the 32-year-old journeyman from Torquay, Hennon suffered with a few injuries to his wrist and back, he explained:

“Never been told that I actually had sciatica before but I’ve always had the pain in my back for about two years now. You can get it really bad or where it’s just a bit tight, I don’t think it’s bad yet or that’s what the physio told me; I’ve had treatment for it.”

Keeping momentum

Despite the niggles, Hennon has continued to train to stay ready for the next fight, he clarified:

“I’ve just been ticking over since my last fight but I will be straight back into the gym in the New Year which gives me a nine week run up to the fight.”

Support for the Hennon’s previous fight topped the turnout on his pro bow and claims that it’s growing bigger still, he enthused:

“I’ll definitely be doing more tickets in my next fight, I went to an unlicensed show the other day and people were saying they recognised me from the paper.”

Hennon trains out of the famous Peacock Gym in London’s East End with trainers, Johnny and Frank Greaves.

Regular sparring partner, Ryan Taylor, was defeated on the first weekend of December by 37-year-old opponent, Ben Day, losing out on the chance to lift the coveted Southern Area title for the third time in his career.

Much more to come

It’s not certain if Hennon will get to train with his teammate in preparation for his forthcoming fight but he declared that there’s plenty of quality sparring available in the Canning Town boxing club.

Hennon stated:

“Romeo Romaeo is always in the gym looking for sparring so he’ll definitely be around. Hopefully I’ll get down to Surrey to spar Lenny Daws again and Johnny and Frank will sort me out so it’s not an issue.”

Hennon concluded:

“It’s going to be a great night and there’s plenty of new skills for me to showcase since my last performance, it’s just getting better and better.”
