Positive developments towards the Kell Brook vs Amir Khan fight finally happening have unfolded this week.

A fight between Sheffield’s IBF welterweight champion of the world Kell ‘Special K’ Brook and Bolton’s former world champion Amir ‘King’ Khan has long been craved by both UK fight fans, and indeed world boxing fans alike, but for one reason or another just couldn’t be made over the last couple of years.
However a recent development over the Christmas period this year has shown signs that the sought after bout is showing signs of becoming a tangible reality, more so than anytime in recent memory at least.
Speaking in an interview with Boxing News Online, promoter of Kell Brook Eddie Hearn said yesterday:
“We’re talking, I’ve sent through the figures for a proposed bout June 4 at Wembley [stadium] and I think it will happen. They know how much money is in the pot. Tell me what you want.”
A Wembley showdown would like be as big an occasion if not bigger than the last night professional action for the sweet science was held at the iconic venue, when former super-middleweight champion Carl Froch famously knocked out George Groves in front of an incredible 80,000 live fans in attendance.
That was another Hearn promoted show, so no doubt the Matchroom boss will be looking to match that occasion, if not surpass it.
With both fighters in good form in their respective careers, also in their primes and with a potential world title on the line, it looks all set for a summer blockbuster, provided Brook gets past his mandatory IBF challenger in February and if Khan were to choose to fight again before the summer, that he emerged injury free and victorious.
