Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather are similar fight characters in terms of their polarizing personalities who attract big pay per view buys, but Floyd Mayweather feels there is double standards as to how people take McGregor’s outsppoken remarks compared to how they did his own, during his illustrious boxing career.

There’s no denying that Ireland’s Conor McGregor is one of the most popular professional athletes in the world right now, and has not only established himself as a household name with his adept marketing and salesmanship abilities, but more importantly, has back up his talk remarkably well on fight night – most recently by becoming the UFC featherweight champion and defeating long time weight class king Jose Aldo.
However, in a recent interview with the guys at FightHype.com, boxing legend Floyd Mayweather had some interesting comments about the success McGregor has experienced recently, and the fan base that he has built up for himself:
“I don’t really know the McGregor guy, never seen him fight. I heard his name actually from one of the runners that works for our company – a little kid named Ken Hopkins. He’s a runner and takes care of a lot of the daily business. Whatever we need, he takes care of. He’s a cool little kid, I like him, and he does MMA. He told me about the guy McGregor.”
Mayweather went on to touch on how he felt that the praise McGregor has received was biased, and how he believes racism still exists:
“They say he talks a lot of trash and people praise him for it, but when I did it, they say I’m cocky and arrogant. So biased! Like I said before, all I’m saying is this: I ain’t racist at all, but I’m telling you racism still exists.”
