2016 promises to be a huge year for the sweet science. Here’s four fights that this boxing writer would love to see, at some point over the 12 months.

Fury vs Wilder
A clash between these two big men would likely capture the imaginations of fight fans in the UK and USA alike, given the fact both hold versions of the heavyweight title, are undefeated, like to talk – and are coming into their fighting primes.
With fights lined up already for early 2016, a potential collision between these two big men may have to wait until a little later in the year, however.
Golovkin vs Canelo
Gennady Golovkin has been making big strides over recent years as pertaining to laying his claim in the top five pound for pound rankings in the sport of boxing, but he still hasn’t quite got that marquee, really big pay per view fight that he wants, just yet.

A fight between him and fellow 160lbs titlist Canelo Alvarez would tick all the boxes for fans, a great clash of styles and a big name fight for Golovkin. Lets hope this potential barn stormer becomes a reality in 2016.
Kovalev vs Ward
Sergey Kovalev has yet to be dented at light-heavyweight, such is his ferocity, punching power and equally impressive boxing brain. He and indeed the boxing world, wants to see him in with a fighter who can gave him a test.
With the elusive unification Adonis Stevenson fight proving to be hard to make, another top showdown at 175lbs would be with American Andre Ward.
Ward has now returned to boxing after an extended hiatus, and one would think that Kovalev certainly wouldn’t find things easy, that’s for sure.
Brook vs Khan
If there is a boxing God (and I sometimes wonder if there is) then for me, the Kell Brook and Amir Khan fight will get made in 2016.
It’s just one of those fights that has something for everyone – two explosive, fast, powerful fighters, in their primes, and a fight that’s been building for years.
I can’t see why Khan wouldn’t pursue the fight now with Mayweather in retirement and the Pacquiao fight out of the picture for the time being.
Summer of 2016, Eddie Hearn – make it happen.
