Bernard Hopkins turns 51 today, but by all accounts it looks as though he will have one last fight in 2016.

When you look at Hopkins’ career both from a resume point of view and it’s longevity, in many ways it’s hard to see it being matched by anyone ever again.
I mean, for a 51 year old professional athlete to still be boxing, a sport that demands as much physically as any, its truly incredible when you sit back and think about it.
Sure, his last fight came back in late 2014 at this point, when he was comprehensively outpointed by the brilliant Sergey Kovalev in a light-heavyweight title fight in Atlantic city, but even at aged 49, the fact he was able to go twelve rounds with a ferocious operator such as Kovalev, is testament to his almost super human genetics, work ethic and clean lifestyle.
Perhaps there has never been a boxer that has looked after himself as well as Hopkins, nor may there ever be.
Speaking before Christmas just gone, I recall Hopkins in an interview talking with Max Kellerman saying that he wanted to have one last fight in 2016. It would be great to see him go out on a high note.
