WBO, WBA and IBO Heavyweight champion Tyson Fury notably went after WBC heavyweight champ Deontay Wilder in the ring after the Alabama man’s KO win over Artur Szpilka in New York, but it has emerged that he also had a bit of a bust up with a certain British boxing great too.
Retired British boxing star and former super-middleweight champion Carl ‘The Cobra’ Froch (MBE) had been working for Sky Sports this weekend at the Deontay Wilder vs Artur Szpilka fight in the Barclay’s Center, New York.
Heavyweight champion Tyson Fury was also in attendance at the fight as a keen spectator, with the opportunity of fighting Deontay Wilder in a unification showdown later this year on the cards by all accounts.
According to boxing writer Mike Coppinger on Twitter, the two Englishman appeared to have some type of confrontation with one another at some point after the Wilder fight, with an intervention from security needed to separate the two:
“Fury just went after Froch, security separating them.”
It was a busy night for Fury in terms of confrontations and call outs, as he also got into the ring following Deontay Wilder’s 9th round KO of Artur Szpilka to stir up a potential unification showdown later in the year.
Whatever happened between Tyson Fury and Carl Froch, one thing’s for sure, expect plenty more controversy from the colorful Tyson Fury for years to come.
