If money talks, surely a summer stadium showdown between Kell Brook and Amir Khan is on the cards.

IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook and Amir Khan have been touted as possible opponents now for some time, but that could all be about to change with the news this week that Kell Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn has reportedly offered the Bolton fighter Amir Khan $10 million to fight Brook 35-0 (24 KO) on June 4 at Wembley Stadium in London.
Amir Khan had no luck in landing fights with the two of the biggest opponents on his radar in recent years, Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao so surely a mega fight with Brook is now something he will consider.
(Khan and Mayweather apparently had quite the bit of banter ringside at Garcia vs Guerrero)
Floyd Mayweather who famously overlooked Khan to fight the hard hitting Marcos Maidana and Pacquiao, who has opted for a rubber match against Timothy Bradley in April, have left Khan wondering around the boxing landscape looking for that one special bout, that one special opponent, then why not ‘Special K’?
If you read between the lines, there would appear to be a degree of frustration on the part of Kell Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn who told Sky Sports News:
“I had a meeting on Monday with Amir Khan’s lawyer and, firstly, when you are dealing with Amir Khan you are dealing with about three or four different parties and it is very confusing.”
Cutting through all the twittering and back and forth about Khan wanting a bigger cut of the financial pie, $10 million to fight Brook for the IBF title, in front of a large Wembley crowd, is realistically the next best option behind a Mayweather or Pacquiao, that is now never going to happen.
Khan who is currently the mandatory challenger for the winner of last night’s WBC welterweight fight, who was Danny Garcia, at best could only hope to get half of the reported $10 million purse Hearn has offered.
However, going by Khan’s latest on Twitter, it looks as though he is now trying to drum up fan support for a potential rematch with Garcia:
