Confirmed: Andre Ward vs Sullivan Barrera Is Now Official

It was in the boxing rumor mill for a number of weeks, but it has now been officially confirmed.

Andre Ward (28-0-15KO) will make his light-heavyweight debut (fully fledged that is at the 175lbs weight limit) on March 26th against Cuban Sullivan Barrera (17-0-12KO).

The fight will take place in Ward’s hometown of Oakland California at the Oracle Arena, after a number of months of negotiations to get the bout agreed.

The fight will be shown live on HBO, and it is understood television negotiations with Andre Ward’s new deal on HBO were behind the protracted talks when putting the Sullivan Barrera fight together.

Ward is already scheduled to face Sergey ‘Krusher’ Kovalev later in 2016 in a blockbuster light-heavyweight battle, should he get past Sullivan Barrera.

The fight will be a RocNation Sports promotion.
