Lucas Browne: I Would Love To Knock Deontay Wilder’s Head Off His Shoulders!

During the week we caught up with Lucas ‘Big Daddy’ Browne 23-0 (20KO) in an always colourful chat with the Australian, as he gets ready for the biggest fight of his life with Ruslan Chageav 34-2-1 (21KO) for the WBA world heavyweight title on March 5th.

Here’s our Q and A.

How are you finding Russia Lucas?

“Russia was very nice and cold. I’m now in Grozny and I am being treated like a movie star!”

How do you see the fight with Chagaev unfolding?

“He will come forward like he always does and I hope to use my reach and strength to keep him off. It will be a good war.”

Do you think you will stop him?

“I’m prepared to go 12 rounds, you never know what can happen.”

What is your take on the announcement that professionals will now be able to box at the 2016 Olympics in Rio, are you tempted?

“No not at all.”

With the heavyweight scene bubbling nicely what is your plan if all goes well against Chagaev?

“I think the WBA has the tournament in place either way so I’ll be fighting Oquendo, then the winner of the other rounds.”

You are potentially close to a massive fight against Tyson Fury or Wladimir. Who would you prefer to face?

“Fury.”

I have seen that you have some beef over social media with Deontay Wilder, what started that all and is he another option for you in the future?

“I would love to knock his head off his shoulders yes. I hate smart ass people, and he is a real smart ass and isn’t all that talented either.”

You and Tyson Fury seem to have a mutual respect for each other, what’s your opinion of him?

“He’s fine, he’s a great boxer and a real entertaining person.”

Do you think the Wladimir Klitschko rematch pans out the same with Fury, has father time caught up with him?

“I think that Fury just has what is needed to beat Wlad. That’s all.”

You can watch the Lucas Browne vs Ruslan Chagaev fight live on BoxNation TV Saturday the 5th of March for the regular WBA heavyweight belt.
