It’s a heavyweight match up that has been on the cards for quite some time, but is now finally edging closer to becoming a reality.

Undefeated big hitting American Deontay Wilder (36-0-35KO) owes respected Russian contender Alexander Povetkin (30-1-22KO) a mandatory title shot at the WBC heavyweight crown, and both teams are currently locked in negotiations to make the fight happen.
It now appears at least that the location of where the bout will happen is agreed upon, with Povetkin’s promoter on Twitter saying the fight will take place in Russia:
Champion Wilder has fought outside of his home country of America in his professional career before mind you, be it in the UK, Puerto Rico or Mexico, but some fans may view this news as slightly odd with him having to travel to Povetkin’s home country – particularly with him being the champion.
No news of an agreement has been reached just yet but it’s definitely an excellent heavyweight fight in the making.
