This weekend will see an exciting young heavyweight prospect from the UK getting a break on a big show headlined by IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook. That prospect is Dave ‘The White Rhino’ Allen.
________________________________________________________________________________
He’s had ten amateur fights and this weekend will be his tenth professional fight, but Allen has had his fair share of adversity to contend with in his career already – despite his limited experience.
Multiple opponents pulling out during his pro career has been an unwanted occurrence thus far, with this week seeing another pullout through original foe scheduled for Saturday Richard Towers succumbing to injury.
Now, Allen will compete with the experienced Jason Gavern instead and ‘The White Rhino’ says this is the first time he’s trained correctly for a pro fight and mentioned in an interview with Sky Sports this week:
“I need to win Saturday night because I’m good for the heavyweight division.”
For those who may not be familiar with Allen’s work inside the ring, here is one of his stoppage wins that came against Jindrich Velecky (hat tip to BaylorIC TV Boxing Channel for the upload):
You can catch Allen in action live on Sky Sports this weekend.
