A 32 year old Andre Ward showed why he is still one of the pound for pound most skilled prize fighters in the world, as he comfortably won a unanimous points decision over previously unbeaten Cuban Sullivan Barrera.
He also displayed some solid power at the new weight, dropping Barrera with a sharp left hand in the third round, and then landing another powerful left (this time to the body) in round 8, although on this occasion the referee ruled the punch a low blow and took a point away from Ward.
Despite this and Ward needing to contend with a cut that formed round 10, the Virgil Hunter trained-RocNation signed maestro controlled the bout in truth.
CompuBox punch stats showed as much after the fight, with Ward landing 36% of his punches on the night, and Barrera landing far less at 15%.
