IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook defended his title this past weekend with a second round stoppage win over mandatory challenger Kevin Bizier. But longtime UK rival Amir Khan was not impressed.

A Kell Brook vs Amir Khan fight has been talked out for literally years at this stage, with little sign that it is going to happen anytime soon it would seem.
There was previously hopes that the bout could happen this summer in a stadium in the UK, until Amir Khan accepted the arduous task of moving up two weight divisions to challenge Mexican Canelo Alvarez for the WBC middleweight title in May.
Perhaps the fight could still happen later this year, but Khan told Fight Hype that Brook needs to step things up:
“If they want the fight between myself and Kell Brook he needs to definitely up his game. He’s a world champion. He’s at his peak of his career where he needs to have these top fights and needs to fight these big names. Win or lose why is he afraid of these big names? Because he thinks he will get beat. I think Kell Brook needs to grow bigger balls and fight bigger names really.”
Next up for Khan is Canelo on May 7th and win or lose, one would hope that this highly clamored for all UK showdown with Brook can finally be made later this year.
