Watch: David Avanesyan vs Shane Mosley Video Highlights

It wasn’t to be for the 44 year old future Hall of Fame inductee Shane Mosley last night, but he by no means disgraced himself, in what was a competitive interim WBA welterweight title bout with Russian David Avanesyan.

The final scorecards read out: 114-113, 117-110 and 117-110 all for the winner by unanimous decision David Avanesyan on the night, in what was probably by most onlookers opinions, the right call overall (although I scored the fight only by two rounds in favour of Avanesyan).

However Mosley showed he still had plenty of heart, chin and at times pop in his punch despite the loss, although at 44 years of age the spring in his step, his timing and reflexes were understandably not what they once were.

Whatever comes next for ‘Sugar’ Shane Mosley (49-10-1-41KO) he can most definitely hold his head held high, after a remarkable career that has seen him step in the ring with legendary fight names like Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao, Miguel Cotto, Oscar De La Hoya and Vernon Forrerst, to name just a few.

27 year old Avanesyan (21-1-1-11KO) having won the bout will now move on to an opportunity to face the winner of Keith Thurman and Shawn Porter later this year.
