28 year old Vasyl Lomachenko from the Ukraine made history last night in Madison Square Garden when he became the first man in boxing history to win world titles in two weight divisions in just seven professional bouts. Not only that, he did it in some style.
Lomachenko to those who know him, is arguably one of the most skilled fighters in boxing today for pure out and out technique and as his professional career progresses, expect those skills to only be further polished and sharpened.
Previous WBO super-featherweight champion Roman Martinez was a good fighter in his own right, but he just didn’t know what hit him last night, as the gulf in class and talent was made painfully clear to him right from the get go.
Lomachenko’s timing, movement and speed was bewildering for Martinez, but a joy to watch to fans of the sweet science at it’s purest and best.
