We briefly caught up with the Hall of Fame Promoter this week who gave us some candid and highly interesting exclusive quotes.
Recently, Vasyl Lomachenko put in what can only be described as a sensational performance when he stopped inside Roman Martinez the distance and became the first professional boxer ever to win world titles in multiple weight class in just seven bouts.
He has come in for some rightly justified praise from boxing fans since the victory and his promoter Bob Arum told us that he believes:
“Muhammad Ali is the greatest fighter of all time. Vasyl Lomachenko is the greatest fighter of our time.”
We also wanted to get the thoughts of Bob an a potential fight for Lomachenko in the future that perhaps has not been mooted that much as of yet, but a possibly brilliant fight nonetheless.
This summer Leo Santa Cruz and Carl Frampton will collide in a featherweight world title contest and although Lomachenko moved up to super-featherweight recently, we wanted to know what Bob thought of a possible fight against the winner if Lomachenko moved back to featherweight.
Arum replied:
“He is willing to fight anyone, including Carl Frampton!”
If you didn’t see his win recently, here’s the Lomachenko vs Martinez highlights from HBO:
