A middleweight fight that has been much speculated on recently looks like it is nearly over the line.
Recently we asked our readers was Chris Eubank Jr really serious about fighting middleweight kingpin Gennady Golovkin but by all accounts, it appears he most certainly is.
Speaking with Kugan Cassius of IFL TV promoter Eddie Hearn revealed:
“We are in deep negotiations with Tom Loeffler (Golovkin’s promoter). We’ve given them a wonderful deal, we are pretty much agreed. We’ve got to beat Tom Doran next Saturday and then if everyone really wants that fight, it will get made.
He went on to further add that if the fight happens, he believes it is an outdoor stadium event:
“I think it can do 40,000. I think it’s a huge pay per view fight. I think it’s a huge fight in general.”
It is thought that the fight could take place in the UK next September, if the parties do reach a deal in the coming weeks that is.
If the fight were to happen in September it would likely be difficult to find an outdoor football stadium in the UK but if it were to be pulled off, it would finally represent that big pay per view fight that Gennady Golovkin has wanted for so long.
At the same time however, many fans would be dismayed if it is not Canelo Alvarez that ‘GGG’ faces next. Time will tell.
