It was announced today that Dillian Whyte vs Dave Allen will take place later this month on July 30th in Leeds, UK and it could be a potential gem of a heavyweight fight.
The match up will be for the vacant WBC international heavyweight title but perhaps more than anything, it just seems to be a genuinely compelling fight on paper.
Two hungry heavyweights involved in the now very red hot UK heavyweight scene, vying to move up in the ranks to European and World level and without doubt, two guys who are not afraid to talk in the build-up to this one.
Promoter Eddie Hearn made the announcement earlier on Twitter today:
After yesterday’s news it looks like everyone wants to fight – Leeds July 30 just got even better – @DillianWhyte v @davidthewhiter1 is on!

It’s an interesting clash of styles that should result in fireworks for Yorkshire fans in attendance in roughly three weeks time – one that has plenty of needle in it to boot.
This needle and animosity has been building in recent weeks and months as a result of the back and forth exchanges between the two in the media, which always adds an extra spice to a good old British heavyweight clash like this.
While some have been placing Whyte (28) as the early favourite, who probably is the bigger puncher of the two, I think it would be unwise for people to sleep on the slightly younger Allen (24).
Allen (9-0-1-6KO) is a man who has not had things easy in his boxing career like Whyte (17-1-14KO) hasn’t either, which is going to make for a toe to toe battle of who wants it more in this one, I feel.
This is a chance for Allen to get that big breakout exposure fight that he’s been after for a while now and if I were a betting man, I’d think that like Whyte, he’ll really come out swinging at the end of the month when the two collide.
It’s one of those genuinely exciting domestic heavyweight bouts that you just know is going to end in a knockout, somewhere along the way.
With both men currently taking their training schedules very seriously, expect this one to be a war from start to end.
