The fallout and back and forth between the Eubank’s and promoter Eddie Hearn is continuing this week following the announcement that Gennady Golovkin will not fight Chris Eubank Jr and will fight Kell Brook on September 10th instead.
Initially after the fight was announced, Hearn took to IFL TV and other online platforms straight away to detail the apparent frustration of dealing with Eubank Sr was and how ticket prices and crazy demands, ultimately cost Euabank Jr an opportunity to fight one of the world’s leading fighters in Gennady Golovkin.
Hearn has gone into even more detail this week on his dealings with Chris Eubank Sr. Speaking to Kugan Cassius of IFL TV, Eddie Hearn said:
“Unfortunately he feels he is much bigger than a Joshua, this is Chris Eubank senior. He thinks his son is actually bigger than Anthony Joshua. It’s like, in what respect? TV figures? No. Box office figures, as in at the arena? No. Digital hits? No.”
He added:
“He asked for a meeting with Sky, right, which I don’t really entertain but I want to make this fight so badly that I’ll take Eubank in to meet Barney Frances (head of Sky Sports) with me – and it was one you really should filmed.”
