Southpaw welterweight contender Felix Diaz bounced back with an impressive win at the weekend following a close majority decision loss to Lamont Peterson last October.
Felix Diaz (18-1-8KO) is rated by many within boxing as an outstanding talent from the Dominican Republic and certainly has all the skills to become a world champion.
Following a solid unanimous points decision win at the weekend (on Deontay Wilder’s undercard) over the much heralded Sammy Vasquez, Diaz when speaking with his trainer afterwards backstage said they are ready for anyone at super-lightweight or welterweight.
Indeed, two divisions packed with talent at the moment – Diaz looks set to become another shark in the mix at the top of these weight classes’ rankings in the coming years.
At 32 years of age and after having had a stellar amateur career, Diaz will know though that he’ll need the big fights sooner rather than later, as he’s now arguably in the prime of his career.
Boxing News and Views’ Peter Moss was backstage after Diaz’ latest win at the weekend in the Birmingham, Alabama and caught the following footage where him and his trainer also discussed the tactics that won them the fight on the night against Vasquez:
