Peter Fury Eyes Big Fights For Hughie Fury Next Up

Hughie Fury is one of the hottest prospects in world heavyweight boxing and his father and trainer Peter Fury is convicted in his belief that his son is now getting very near to challenging for a world title.

6’6 Hughie is still only 21 years old, which is hard to believe considering his impressive 20-0 (10KO) professional record that has seen him overcome allergy illnesses and stop-start periods in his career to remain on track in his ascent in world boxing.

The heavyweight division has never been so alive for quite some time as it is now, with Hughie’s cousin Tyson currently sitting a top of the weight class.

We spoke to Hughie earlier in the year on his progress and it appears that next October looks like will be the next time we see the talented heavyweight in a big fight.

Speaking to BoxNation his father and trainer Peter is eyeing big things now for his son:

“Maybe Lucas Browne would like the fight, something like that. Someone that’s going to mean something. I’m not really interested on a British level or something like this.”

He enthused:

“He’s number six in the world, he’s a former form of a champion in the WBO (Inter-Continental). So we’re looking probably a couple of fights away and he’s got a world title or even one fight and then a world title, like this. So next year, October and early next year will be his year. Hopefully we’ll have two world champions in the gym.”

Hughie last fought in April when he beat Fred Kassi for the vacant WBO Inter-Continental heavyweight title:
