Josh Warrington stops Patrick Hyland in a scintillating display to retain his WBC international featherweight title.
Local Leeds man Warrington got off to an impressive start in the first round, looking sharp as he snapped the head back of Hyland with the jab, utilising straight punches while also using side to side, in and out movement.
The second round saw similar sharpness and accuracy from Warrington, showing some very fast hands and on point timing.
Warrington was sticking to a disciplined strategy of keeping it tight and landing fast combinations in the third, with Hyland looking a little lost for ideas.
As the mid rounds progressed Warrington’s dominance of the fight really became evident, with superior accuracy and speed apparent over the tough Hyland.
The incredible volume of punches that were landed on Hyland in the mid to late rounds finally took their tole in round 8, forcing Hyland to take a knee right before the end of the bell.
Warrington closed the show in the 9th after dropping a brave Hyland twice, forcing the referee to call halt to proceedings.
An extremely impressive performance from Warrington who improved his record to 24-0-5KO.
