Amir Khan’s passionate dislike for his fellow UK boxing rival Kell Brook appears to be as strong as ever.
Khan and Brook have had their rivalry for years now, with a chance of the two actually meeting in the ring seeming to be as distant as ever at the moment, following Khan’s recent obliteration at the hands of Canelo back in May and Brook’s upcoming showdown with Gennady Golovkin in September.
But never say never. Certainly in a sport as unpredictable and crazy as boxing.
Both men are still relatively young and have a few more years left in their boxing careers yet. Speaking on the prospect of a fight with his old rival – Amir Khan told the Dubai Press:
“I still don’t like him, in fact I hate him. But the UK public want to see that fight and it is a fight I would like to give them.”
These bitter quotes from Khan brought up memories for me of the time him and Brook met on set a few years back on the Sky Sports show Ringside.
It was clear even then the two didn’t like one another, going back and forth at one another over old sparring stories, questioning each other’s opposition and punch resistance.
There was also the time when Khan was commentating in studio when Brook won the world title against Shawn Porter, where Brook took a shot at Khan straight after the win.
These two seem destined to get it on a big grudge match one day:
