A Anthony Joshua vs Hughie Fury fight was rumoured to have been in the offering in the past but nothing quite came of it. However it now appears that both parties would be willing to take a potential fight.
IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is currently enjoying some downtime after a busy and successful past 12 months or so, that have seen him become champion inside only 16 professional contests.
Fellow undefeated British heavyweight Hughie Fury has had a bit of a start-stop time over the last 12 months, but has still recorded two solid wins and extended his impressive record to 20-0 (10KO).
It’s a point lost on some fight fans at times, that Hughie despite still only being 21, has actually had three more professional fights than IBF champion Joshua (17-0-17KO).
Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn had said in the past that the fight had been offered to Hughie, but now Hughie’s trainer and father Peter Fury has weighed in on the subject – suggesting a fight could be on the horizon in the near future if they want it:
@hughiefury cleared to fight” @EddieHearn let’s talk & try make the fight with your man AJ. Your telling the world you offered so let’s go

An intriguing fight if it were to come to fruition, with not much difference in either heavyweight’s skill sets in my opinion at this relatively early stage of both of their pro careers.
Neither man has a fight pencilled next in 2016 just yet. Stranger things have happened in boxing than a fight like this getting made, that’s for sure.
Joshua was quoted recently as saying he wants a “serious contender” next up. Hughie Fury would certainly be that.
