Former IBF Heavyweight Champion Charles Martin Shot in LA

‘Prince’ Charles Martin shot in disturbing reports. Martin, who surrendered his IBF heavyweight title earlier this year to Britain’s Anthony Joshua, has reportedly suffered a gun shot wound in Los Angeles.

Martin was allegedly involved in an altercation with two other men in the early hours of Thursday morning local time in California, when the altercation then reportedly took a turn for the worst and gun shots were fired.

Martin was reported to have been heavily bleeding following this and was quoted as saying to TMZ afterwards that:

“I have to pay respect to the cops. They saved my life.”

It is not known who the alleged perpetrators of the assault are yet, with police currently pursuing enquiries in a bid to find them.

Martin last fought on April 9th at London’s 02 Arena when Londoner Anthony Joshua stopped him in the 2nd round of their title fight.

It is also unknown as to how long Martin may now be on the sidelines for, but everyone at Boxing News and Views wishes Charles a speedy recovery.
