Andrade Slams Canelo For Avoiding Him At 154lbs

Demetrius Andrade slams Canelo and his promoter for taking upcoming fight with the UK’s Liam Smith next month.

Former WBO junior-middleweight champion of the world Demetrius Andrade is not happy with Canelo and his team after they according to him, ducked him when he was champion.

Canelo has been linked with fights between the weight class and indeed up at middleweight recently, with a possible fight with Billy Joe Saunders mooted if the pair win their upcoming battles.

But Andrade who held the WBO belt between 2013 and 2014 (that Canelo fights for next month) feels hard done by – saying on Twitter this week:

@OscarDeLaHoya Liam Smith??????? All of a sudden the WBO 154 belt is important to Canelo? When I was WBO champ you never said my name!!!!

Andrade last fought on June 11th when he stopped Willie Nelson inside the distance at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino in new York.

The undefeated southpaw (23-0-16KO) has built up a formidable reputation in the game already and will be hoping the big fights don’t avoid him for too much longer.
