WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders ready for GGG in a world unification match after his next fight in October.
Not many actually get around to stepping in the ring with Gennady Golovkin but appears that Britain’s WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders is more than willing to face him following Golovkin’s fight with IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook.
Saunders says he has seen plenty of faults in the knockout artist and was quick to point out that he fought a welterweight in the O2 Arena in Brook, whereas he would be fighting a full fledged middleweight in himself.
Saunders is due to fight next on October 29th in Manchester against an unconfirmed opponent as of yet, but has said the following to ‘GGG’ following his win last night:

Stylistically I’ve always thought Saunders has a fight game that could certainly frustrate Golovkin with his speed of foot, hand, head movement and lateral movement.
Golovkin didn’t particularly display many of his boxing skills against Kell Brook, opting instead to go for more brute force.
One would imagine that Saunders would like to totally box and move against Golovkin and try to win the fight over the duration but like everyone else, the question would be could he sustain it long enough before Golovkin catches up with him?
It almost seems like Golovkin is starting to get even more relentless as fight by fight goes on, beginning to totally rely on the power and is almost nonchalant towards what is coming back towards him.
Then again, against Kell Brook he probably thought to himself he didn’t need to demonstrate his boxing ability -knowing that he could just overpower him eventually.
Saunders would represent a good fight in my view and the fact it’s a unification adds to it’s credibility. It’s tough to see it happening in December like some have suggested given Billy’s fight in October, but stranger things have happened.
It was reported in the summer that Saunders was offered the fight before – hopefully now it makes sense to get it on.
Over to you team Golovkin and team Saunders.
