Kell Brook Broken Eye Socket Confirmed After Golovkin Fight

A fairly graphic Kell Brook broken eye socket x-ray pic following his fight with Gennady Golovkin has emerged, a stark reminder about the power of ‘GGG’.

Brook lost via a 5th round stoppage to the brick fists of Golovkin after the Englishman’s trainer threw in the towel – after clearly spotting something was wrong with his fighter.

After the fight, Brook recounted how he was seeing multiple (3 or 4) Golovkins in the ring with him at the time of the stoppage and despite the decision been booed by fans and criticised by some people online who perhaps didn’t understand what was going on, Brook’s trainer was proved to be absolutely spot on in his decision.

If anything, it was one of the best pieces of corner work and compassionate acts from a coach in a professional boxing ring for many a year.

This picture of his eye has emerged online that shows a broken eye socket:

This is a bone chilling reminder of the truly devastating power of Gennady Golovkin, who in some people’s opinions was actually behind on the cards at the time of the fight ending with Brook, but still managed to inflict this type of damage.

There is no doubt that if the fight continued Brook would have been risking serious long-term health concerns to his eye.

Speaking on Twitter after the fight, Brook has confirmed that he will need surgery to repair his broken eye socket:

Thanks for the tweets I’m out of hospital need op next week but will be fine and I’ll be back. Sorry I couldn’t bring it home tonight

Massive respect must be afforded to the Englishman after being one of the few people willing to step in the ring with a man that can cause such significant physical injury.
