A Gennady Golovkin vs Danny Jacobs fight in the US looks to be in the works before the year is out.
Recently the WBA (World Boxing Association) ordered Golovkin as their (super) champion to defend his title next up against mandatory contender Danny Jacobs.
Jacobs (32-1-29KO) last fought a few weeks back when he defeated Sergio Mora via TKO to defend his WBA (regular) middleweight title, with Golovkin’s last win also coming earlier this month when he stopped IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook in the 5th round.
Kieth Idec of Boxing Scene has reported that a Gennady Golovkin vs Danny Jacobs fight is being looked at for December 10th on a date HBO, due to a potentially unforeseen surplus in the TV company’s boxing budget.
Talks are also underway for Golovkin to finally pencil in the long anticipated and much sought after showdown with Mexico’s Canelo Alvarez for September 2017:

Jacobs and Golovkin would likely translate into a fun fight in the meantime for fans however, due to their all action styles which would surely result in fireworks for however long a potential bout lasted.
No venue or location for a potential match has been mooted yet, but with Jacobs been a popular Brooklyn native in New York and Golovkin already having a decent fan base there after selling out Madison Square Garden before, one would imagine New York would be looked at.
Then again though, due to recent increases in insurance rates for combat sports events in New York this might not happen – which could lead it to being a Vegas fight.
Jacobs had previously called out ‘GGG’, time will tell if the fight comes to fruition.
