This weekend’s world title fight involving Scottish world champion Ricky Burns will have all the event’s remaining ticket sales revenue donated to the Mike Towell family following the recent tragic death of the Scottish boxer.
Scottish boxer Mike Towell sadly lost his life recently following bleeding and swelling to the brain that occurred after the 25 year old competed in a welterweight bout in Glasgow, Scotland.
Tributes from around the boxing world have flooded in since for Towell, along with condolences across the board for his family and friends at this very difficult time.
Renowned boxer Ricky Hatton set up a fund for the family to try to help ease the burden for Towell’s family during this heartbreaking situation.
The fund had an initial goal of £20,000 which was smashed within it’s first day (raising over £40,000 in the end) after the boxing community came together to pledge support for one it’s fallen warriors.
Now, further news of support has come for Mike’s family ahead of this weekend, after the Press Association reported today that WBA super-lightweight champion Ricky Burns will donate this weekend’s remaining ticket sales money to the family and partner of Mike Towell.
Burns defends his title against Kiryl Relikh this weekend at the The SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland which will be shown live on Sky Sports.
