The man immortalised in the hit movie ‘Raging Bull’ Jake LaMotta still alive and going strong today at the age of 95.
Jake LaMotta (83-19-4-30KO) was one of the 20th century’s most renowned middleweight fighters for his fan- friendly, take on all comers style that saw him reach the pinnacle of boxing and middleweight world champion.
This journey didn’t come easy though and was filled with adversity in a time where the sport was back in the dark ages in some regards.
He compiled his record against some of the biggest killers in the middleweight division at the time too.
He famously beat who is considered by many to be the best pound for pound boxer of all time – ‘Sugar’ Ray Robinson.
He fought Robinson an astonishing six times in total losing five times. However he recorded a win over the great ‘Sugar’ Ray on February 5th, 1943 at the Olympia Stadium in Detroit, Michigan.
A video has surfaced from the Facebook page World Boxing Scene this week that shows LaMotta still shadow boxing in his advanced years.
While it is not clear when exactly over the last couple of years the video was shot, it clearly shows Jake LaMotta is alive and doing more than well.
An inspirational human being:
The word ‘legend’ gets used way too much but this guy is certainly worthy of it.
