Ryan Walsh Boxing Results – Dennis Ceylan Round By Round Report

The Ryan Walsh boxing results and round by round report tonight from his European title fight against Dennis Ceylan.

The featherweight fight represented an opportunity not only for the European title but a coveted high ranking spot in the division too, with both men not being far away from a world title opportunity.

The bout was billed as a very competitive fight on paper before hand.

But Walsh got off to an explosive start in round one, dropping his opponent with a fabulous right uppercut.

Walsh the smaller man giving away significant reach, got off to the dream start – closing the distance well and landing some great left hooks outside of the knockdown.

Ceylan survived the end of the round but did open a cut on Walsh. Possibly due to a clash of heads.

The Danish fighter came back in the second round getting off some solid straight punches on Walsh at times. He dogged it out with Walsh to his credit. After what was a torrid first round.

Walsh landed a solid body shot on Ceylan in round 3. He showed he was perhaps the heavier puncher of the two. A close round and a tough one to score.

Walsh landed a massive right hand in the 4th but for some reason the referee did not score it as a knockdown. The cleaner work done by Walsh after this for the most part. A Walsh round for me.

The fifth was a fairly quiet three minutes. Possibly a Ceylan round on work rate, just.

Walsh was switching from orthodox to southpaw in the sixth in what was a tight enough round. Probably a Walsh round based on the quality of shots landed.

Dennis Ceylan had a very strong seventh round, landing some decent right hands on Walsh to take the round overall in my opinion.

Walsh had a strong finish to the 8th but overall I thought Ceylan edged the round based on punches landed. But another close one to call.

Walsh looked to be getting a little frustrated in the 9th and momentum looked to be switching to the Danish fight Ceylan.

Ceylan showed experience in the 10th, pacing himself well and choosing his moments to attack well. Walsh didn’t do enough work for me to get the round.

A close fight at this stage coming into the final two rounds.

Walsh came out with more intent in the 11th round but it looked like the bout was slipping away. He needed a big final round.

The Englishman had success in the final round but his Danish counterpart displayed excellent footwork in the round to evade a lot of his attacks.

The scorecards read out 115-112 Ceylan, 117-112 Walsh and 115-112 Ceylan – giving the victory to the Dane by split decision to become new European featherweight champion.

Walsh dropped to 21-2-1 (10KO) with the defeat while Ceylan improved his unbeaten record to 18-0-1 (8KO).
