Undefeated 27 year old super-flyweight Kal Yafai earned himself a shot at the world title tonight in Birmingham.
Kal Yafai (20-0-14KO) recorded a knockout victory tonight over Johnson Tellez.
Straight after the fight promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed that the win has landed Yafai a shot at WBA (regular) champion Luis Concepcion on December 10th as a result of tonight’s win.
Hearn also confirmed that the fight will take place on the undercard of IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua’s show on the same night.
So we now know for sure that the heavyweight champion will definitely compete on that night – whether it’s against Klitschko or not.
Yafai looked very assured in his win tonight and will come into the matchup on December 10th as the more busy fighter of the two, having boxed three times this year already – with all three victories coming inside the distance.
The more experienced 31 year old Concepcion 35-4 (24KO) has only boxed once this year so far. A unanimous decision win coming last August in Japan against Kohei Kono.
