Light heavyweight champion and knockout merchant Sergey Kovalev apologizes for a controversial t-shirt in the past relating to rival Adonis ‘Superman’ Stevenson.
The pair have been linked together for a long time now but alas, no fight has come to fruition just yet. On the bright side however fight fans will be treated to one of the best match ups of the year later this month.
This will come in the form of Sergey Kovalev and American boxing maestro Andre ‘SOG’ Ward colliding in one of the most highly anticipated showdowns of the year.
‘Krusher’ Kovalev is in final preparations for the fight at the moment but speaking to ES News and other members of the media in a scrum gathering, he touched on a controversial incident in the past pertaining to Stevenson and a now infamous t-shirt:
“You know if you mean some like t-shirts with Adonis or something like that, I’ve already apologized for this because I didn’t know they can refuse somebody because really here in America is a different culture. I didn’t want to make some bad for this person or somebody at all. I did just like to get fun or something with boxing fans and I apologize for this already. No more.”
For the time being Stevenson will have to wait as Kovalev must first deal with the sizeable task that is the ultra talented Andre Ward.
Many are tipping the winner of the fight to go on to become the mythical but prestigious pound for pound best champion in boxing today.
