Confirmed: Joseph Parker v Andy Ruiz For WBO Heavyweight Title

It has now been confirmed that a press conferene to announce the Joseph Parker v Andy Ruiz Jr fight will take place this weekend. The fight will be for Tyson Fury’s recently vacated WBO heavyweight title.

It had previously been reported that the fight would take place on December 10th which indeed is true but the location up to this point was unknown.

Respected US journalist Dan Rafael of ESPN confirmed on Twitter that promoter Bob Arum said at the Pacquiao vs Vargas press conference yesterday that:

Arum says @joeboxerparker and Andy Ruiz will hold a presser Saturday in Vegas to announce Dec. 10 title fight in New Zealand. #boxing

It is rumoured that the fight will take place in Parker’s hometown of Auckland but we now know that the fight is definitely going to happen and will be in New Zealand.

And an excellent match up it is too.

Two young heavyweights who represent part of the new generation of the now very international heavyweight boxing landscape.

Although this mix has become fragmented in recent times, it is now slowly but surely starting to become much clearer.

2017 is set to be a blockbuster year for heavyweight boxing around the world.

For those not familiar with Joseph Parker’s work here’s how he did last time out in the ring last month in New Zealand.
