Love him or hate him, you cannot deny Shannon Briggs is not a character. Boxing like all professional sports, needs characters.
Some how and some way 44 year old Shannon ‘The Cannon’ Briggs has talked his way into a crack at a version of a heavyweight title in the near future against Lucas ‘Big Daddy’ Browne.
The WBA (World Boxing Organisation) ‘regular’ heavyweight strap will be on the line when the pair meet in the ring.
For the best part of the last year or so, Shannon Briggs has spent a lot of his time self-promoting (quite brilliantly to his credit) and calling out UK heavyweight David Haye.
He might not have gotten the fight he wanted just yet against Haye, but this social media campaign has got him out there and in front of people.
In one of his latest Instagram posts Briggs portrays a more serious side to his tone on social media, mentioning how people called him crazy and a fool, while at the same time as he’s done for a lot of this year – built up some online buzz with truly excellent video editing here (hat tip to the Briggs video editor on this one, nice work):

News on where and when the Briggs vs Browne fight will take place is expected to come in the next few weeks.
