Chris Eubank Sr gives update on son’s injury and outlines in a brief, but clear statement, what they want exactly in order to make the Golovkin fight happen.
Middleweight kingpin Gennady Golovkin and Chris Eubank Jr were in talks earlier this year for a fight to happen but after protracted negotiations, the fight fell apart at the final hour – gifting the Golovkin fight instead to IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook last September.
Eubank Jr was then scheduled to face the UK’s Tommy Langford before 2016 was out, but due to injury the fight had to be shelved.
The Golovkin fight is still something team Eubank very much want however, as Eubank Jr’s father and manger Chris Eubank Sr outlined today on Twitter.
While also releasing this video giving an update on his son’s injury:

Golovkin is currently in talks to face division number two Daniel Jacobs next up for his first fight in 2017 and after which should he come through the match successfully, the long awaited showdown with Canelo Alvarez is hoped by many fans to happen next year.
Recently we spoke to Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler here who told us his man will fight three times in total in 2017.
So perhaps one of those opponents could be Chris Eubank Jr at some point.
