Some perhaps over eager fans were looking at a tweet between two promoters this week as something to take serious as regards a potential GGG vs Froch figh. But it was unfortunately just a joke.
Talk of a GGG vs Froch fight dates back initially a couple of years ago when Carl Froch had beaten George Groves for a second time (yes Carl, in front of 80,000 at Wembley).
But alas, it never happened and Froch retired.
During the week former Froch promoter Eddie Hearn and K2 Promotions head honcho (promoter of Golovkin) Tom Loeffler were pictured in this tweet from Loeffler were he said:

This prompted some over enthusiastic reaction and hope that in fact a GGG vs Froch fight could be in play.
Speaking to Kugan Cassius of IFL TV in Monte Carlo Eddie Hearn confirmed this was not the case whatsoever and the tweet was merely a joke.
What a fight it would have been though. From a purely clash of styles perspective. A GGG vs Froch fight at super-middleweight (168lbs) would have been a genuine blood and guts affair.
One can only imagine at this point however.
GGG is next slated to face middleweight division number two Daniel Jacobs with talks ongoing to get the fight made for early 2017 as things stand.
