The Conor McGregor vs Alvarez full fight report and round by round analysis from UFC 205 at Madison Square Garden, New York.
There was plenty of controversy coming into the fight and in typical McGregor fashion, the bout started how he predicted in that he said before the fight Alvarez was too easy to hit.
McGregor couldn’t miss Alvarez with the left hand as it turned out.
Irishman Conor McGregor came out in dominant fashion utilizing excellent movement and distance. He had a huge first round as he dropped Eddie Alvarez three times with the big left hand in the very first round.
Alvarez managed to survive the end of the first round but McGregor tagged him hard again at the start of the second round.
McGregor was showboating for the crowd at times in the round and Alvarez had a take down attempt nullified by the Irishman.
Then McGregor landed a beautiful land hand counter over the top right on the jaw of Alvarez to close the show and make history by not only becoming the UFC lightweight champion but also the first fighter in the 23 year history of the UFC to become a two weight belt holder at the same time.

After the fight in his post-fight interview the Irishman made reference to commentator Joe Rogan how he had taunted a lot of the other UFC fighters on the UFC roster in recent times and said:
“I’d like to take this opportunity to apologize to absolutely no one.”
