The Danny Garcia vs Vargas full fight report from the US below. A fight that also included an entertaining post-fight interview afterwards with a certain Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman.
Danny Garcia was expected to get the win against Samuel Vargas at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and he much obliged to those pre-fight expectations.
‘Swift’ dropped his opponent Samuel Vargas in the very first round with a sharp right hand counter and although Vargas managed to get back to his feet and survive the round, one could tell even at that point the writing was on the wall for a brave but outmatched Vargas.
Round two was to bring about another visit to the canvas for Vargas – only the second time he had been down in his professional boxing career:

As the bout went into the mid rounds Garcia began to really tee off some hurtful left hooks and notably big right hand bombs on Vargas. He just couldn’t seem to get out of the way of the shots.
Despite Garcia having not fought in 10 months he looked on point and very sharp in my opinion.
Vargas proved to be a tough competitor in shipping some of the punches that he did, but by the seventh round the referee had seen enough and waved off the fight.
Here’s the Garcia vs Vargas video highlights via the folks (hat tip) at the PBC YouTube channel:
After the fight the story of the night was perhaps when Garcia’s fellow American welterweight rival and current WBA world champion Keith Thurman got in the ring.
There is clearly no love lost between the two after recent comments from Thurman saying that Garcia is a “cherry picker.”
The pair are scheduled to meet next March in one of the early big fights of 2017 to look forward to.
