Billy Joe Saunders on Golovkin: Little F***y. Fighting words if ever there was any. Words that perhaps middleweight kingpin Gennady Golovkin is taking a brief mental note of at present.
WBO middleweight champion of the world Billy Joe Saunders (23-0-12KO) is currently readying himself for his first outing of 2016 when he takes on Artur Akavov later this month on November 26th at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff, Wales.

2016 has been a frustrating one for Saunders between injury and fight dates falling out, but he is now finally just one fight away from a significant battle it would seem since capturing his world title all the way back in December of last year against Ireland’s Andy Lee.
That one fight comes this month but after that is taken care of, it is thought that Saunders is being lined up either for a Canelo Alvarez showdown or Gennady Golovkin middleweight unification match next year.
Of course Golovkin is currently in talks to fight Daniel Jacobs next up in the early new year but provided that gets over the line and he comes through it, maybe Saunders as a unification will interest the middleweight number one.
Particularly after some of the choice words Saunders has had for him this year. He’s stepped up his verbal onslaught towards ‘GGG’ even more this week – Billy Joe Saunders on Golovkin:
Can’t wait to fight been a long time then after I smash this Littil Fanny @GGGBoxing I want you for winner takes all#AllTheBelts #WBOKING

For those international readers who may not be familiar with what the slang term above means, it is usually an insult in the UK or Ireland for female genitalia.
Quite the remark to hurl at someone with the knockout fists like a man such as Gennady Golovkin.
But this is the fight business, where insults are commonplace and retorted to frequently. Golovkin has found himself engaging with other fighters in verbal slagging matches lately like this one.
It will be interesting to see what he thinks of Saunders’ latest tirade above.
