This time 30 years ago on November 22nd, 1986, Mike Tyson became the youngest heavyweight world champion in history. To mark the anniversary we’ve been watching back over the Mike Tyson vs Trevor Berbick full fight today.
Tyson’s record still stands 30 years on in 2016 and it will likely take some beating for many years to come.
At 20 years of age he became the heavyweight champion of the world by doing what can only be described as a demolition job on a Trevor Berbick.
Who didn’t know what hit him.
Years before the fight took place in 1981, Berbick had given Muhammad Ali a humiliating beating, when the great Ali was boxing on well longer than he should have at the very end of his career.
This was something not lost on Tyson, a staunch Ali admirer, who can be seen listening to Ali in the ring beforehand moments before fighting Berbick below.
As the story goes Ali told Tyson to “get him for me”. Which he duly obliged:

The win brought Tyson to the 28-0 mark in his professional career and he went on to defend his titles 9 times before coming unstuck to Buster Douglas in Tokyo in 1990.
Those four years before his defeat to Douglas were considered to be the prime of Tyson’s career.
